Two men have been arrested and charged in separate nonfatal shootings in Baltimore this month, police said Monday.
Marshall Hill, 23, faces attempted murder, assault and handgun charges in a March 17 shooting in the 400 block of W. Saratoga St. near Lexington Market that left a 22-year-old man shot in the leg at about 1:42 p.m. Police said they tracked two rental cars — a gold Pontiac Grand Prix that served as the getaway car and a white Dodge Durango — to Hill, who was then identified as the shooter by two separate witnesses in a photo array. The victim was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
Hill "showed no regard for life when he discharged his weapon as he was in a convenience store with plenty of customers in the store and in the vicinity of the victim when he discharged," police said in his charging documents.
Harvey Miles Jr., 21, also faces attempted murder, as well as armed robbery, assault and gun charges in a shooting and robbery Saturday in Highlandtown, police said.
The victim was walking northbound in the 200 block of Conkling St. at about 8:41 p.m. when a man approached, brandished a handgun and demanded money, police said. They began to fight, moving to a rear alley off of Claremont Street nearby, where the victim told police Miles hit him repeatedly in the head with the gun.
Miles shot him in the arm, took his cellphone and $250 and ran, before being arrested less than 10 minutes later, after a 1998 Toyota Avalon he was riding in was pulled over for a broken tail light on E. Madison Street, police said. The victim's cellphone and money, and the handgun used in the robbery, were found in the car, police said.
No attorney was listed for either Hill or Miles in online court records. A woman who answered the phone at a number listed for Hill's home in the 900 block of Sedgley Road in Catonsville quickly hung up the phone when reached Monday night. No one answered at a phone number listed for Miles' home in the 1500 block of Biddle St. in East Baltimore.
Hill is being held with a $15,000 bail, and Miles is held without bail.
