A 51-year-old man was charged with attempted murder in a stabbing after an argument over a parking spot last month, police said Wednesday.
Shelton Alexander is accused of stabbing a 53-year-old man in the chest, face and buttock at about 4 p.m. on March 22 in the 2000 block of Ramsay St. in the Carrollton Ridge neighborhood, police said. He was arrested Tuesday, police said.
Alexander pulled a razor blade on the victim and cut him several times, saying "You going to die today," according to charging documents.
The victim, who was not identified, drove himself to University Hospital where he received 19 stitches to his chest, 4 to his left cheek and 3 to his buttock, and was released, police said.
Alexander — identified as the suspect through witness interviews — faces attempted murder, assault and weapons charges, police said. He is being held at the Central Booking and Intake Facility.
No attorney was listed for Alexander in online court documents, and no one could be reached to comment at a number listed for his address in the 1300 block of Druid Hill Ave.
