Baltimore man charged in New Year's Day shooting

A 36-year-old man has been charged in a nonfatal shooting in his Frankford neighborhood on New Year's Day, police announced Wednesday.

Ernest Coley, of the 4300 block of LaSalle Ave., where the shooting took place, faces attempted murder, assault and gun charges, police said.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was shot in the shoulder at about 2:44 p.m. in a black, 2002 Dodge Durango, which had a shattered driver side window, police said.

Witnesses identified Coley as the shooter and he was arrested, police said. No phone number was listed for Coley's address, and an attorney who represented him in a previous case could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday night.
