Violent weekend continues in city as three killed late Saturday and early Sunday

As of Sunday evening, at least 21 people had been shot since Friday, including 7 who died.

Violence continued in Baltimore as three people were killed late Saturday and early Sunday.

In all, as of Sunday evening, at least 21 people had been shot since Friday, including seven who died. Among them is a man shot in the head in the Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park area early Friday morning who died over the weekend.

The shootings are part of a surge of violence in recent months. May was the deadliest month in Baltimore since 1990 as 42 people were killed. Police reported 29 homicides in June.

Police offered little information about the shootings over the weekend, which were under investigation.

An 18-year-old man was found shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body in the 4300 block of E. Wabash Ave. in Northwest Baltimore. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A 33-year-old man was shot in the back about 6:55 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of E. Eager St. in East Baltimore. Police said when they arrived on the scene they found the man and a 35-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to their necks. The woman is listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

A 29-year-old man died after being shot in the back about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of E. Federal St. in East Baltimore. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At least seven others were shot Sunday, police said. Three walked into nearby hospitals for treatment.

A 37-year-old man was shot in the abdomen about 12:40 a.m. in the 2300 block of Aiken St. in East Baltimore. Call detectives at 410-396-2433 with information.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg shortly before 2 a.m. in the 4900 block of Park Heights Ave. in Northwest Baltimore. Anyone with information should call 410-396-2466.

A 30-year-old man was shot in the leg about 5 a.m. in the 200 block of N. Greene St. near Lexington Market. Call Central District detectives at 410-396-2411.

A 25-year-old man was found shot multiple times about 7 p.m. in the 2000 block of Linden Ave. in Reservoir Hill. He is listed in critical condition at an area hospital. Call Central District detectives at 410-396-2411.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the back about 7:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of Denison St. near the Walbrook Junction Shopping Center. He is in stable condition in an area hospital. Call Southwest District detectives at 410-396-2488 with information.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm about 9:50 p.m. in the 3500 block of Elmley Ave. near Belair Edison. Call Northeast District detectives at 410-396-2444.

A man was fatally shot in the head about 10:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of N. Caroline St., north of Madison Square Park.
