City settles case involving motorist hit by police vehicle

Baltimore's spending panel is expected to approve a $30,000 settlement Wednesday involving a police vehicle that hit a motorist who was attempting to pull over.

Reginald Peakes' vehicle was hit on Loch Raven Boulevard while he tried to clear the roadway for a police vehicle "in emergency status," according to the settlement memo presented to the Board of Estimates. The memo does include a date for the incident.

Peakes was injured in the accident and had more than $16,000 in medical bills, the settlement said. To avoid time and further expense, the city's legal department recommended the parties settle.
