A portion of East Fayette Street will be closed this weekend in Baltimore for a “roadway art painting,” according to the Department of Transportation.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation said the street will be closed between Gay and Holliday streets from Friday at 6 a.m. until Sunday at 8 p.m.
Posts circulating on social media said there are plans to paint “Black Lives Matter” on the road, but officials did not immediately respond to questions to confirm.
The department said detour signs will be posted in the area and that drivers can expect westbound Fayette Street traffic to be detoured right on Gay Street, left onto Saratoga Street, left on Guilford Avenue and right back onto westbound Fayette Street.
Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.
