Officer who fell from I-83 out of rehab

Officer Teresa Rigby, who was thrown over the side of I-83 last month and fell 30 feet into a parking lot, has been released from rehabilitation, said Det. Nicole Monroe, a Baltimore City Police spokeswoman.

The Northern District officer was standing on the highway's northbound shoulder near the Pepsi sign when a Saab struck her patrol vehicle. The cruiser knocked her over a retaining wall and down into the Pepsi plant parking lot below.

After several surgeries, Rigby was released from Maryland Shock Trauma Center less than a week after the incident and was transferred to a rehabilitation unit. Police did not have any further information Tuesday night about the next step in Rigby's recovery.
