Prosecutor who wrote disparaging email about sexual assault victim no longer works for Baltimore state's attorney

Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's office says a prosecutor whose disparaging email about an alleged sexual assault victim was included in the recent Department of Justice report about the city no longer works there.

A spokesman for Mosby said Thursday the office made "many attempts to identify the prosecutor" who called an alleged victim "a conniving little whore." Officials determined the prosecutor wrote the email in 2013 — and no longer works there. The prosecutor's name was not released.

"State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby takes sexual assault very seriously and does not condone derogatory insensitive comments made to or about sexual assault survivors, which work against our efforts to successfully hold the perpetrators of these offenses accountable," said spokesman Arinze Ifekauche in a statement.

Federal investigators uncovered the email while looking into the city police department. The probe found serious problems with the way police investigate reports of sexual assault.

According to the DOJ report, the prosecutor wrote to a city police officer in an email exchange, "this case is crazy ... I am not excited about charging it. The victim seems like a conniving little whore. (pardon my language)."

"Lmao!" the officer wrote back. "I feel the same." The officer was also not identified in the DOJ report.
