Warrant issued for suspect in North Baltimore robbery of pregnant nurse

Baltimore police say they have issued an arrest warrant for the suspect wanted in the robbery and beating of a pregnant nurse in North Baltimore.

Police declined to identify the suspect on Wednesday as officers continue to search for the man, who police say is also suspected in other robberies in and around the Guilford neighborhood.

On Saturday, a Union Memorial Hospital nurse who was six months pregnant was walking to work in the 3700 block of Greenmount Ave. at about 7 p.m. when police say she turned into the 400 block of Bretton Place and was punched by the suspect at least three times. Police say the attacker stole the nurse's keys, iPhone and bank card before fleeing with another male who had stood nearby.

The nurse suffered a welt over her left eye but declined to be taken to a hospital. Police described her as being in good condition.

Police said the suspect is linked to other robberies but they did not say how many. Detectives are also searching for the person they believe acted as a lookout, who police said was a person of interest.

Baltimore police have increased patrols in North Baltimore as a result of the robberies.
