A Baltimore police car caught the attention of motorists during the Wednesday morning commute when what is believed to be a mechanical failure ended with the cruiser engulfed in flames.
The patrol car was in the area of Guilford Ave. and Madison St. around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday when smoke began showing from the back of the car. After getting out of the vehicle, the officer noticed the car was on fire.
Police said Wednesday afternoon the department is investigating the incident, but "it is believed that the cause of the fire is mechanical in nature," according to a department statement.
No injuries were reported.
