A man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he intentionally hit a pedestrian with his minivan near Baltimore’s City Hall Friday.
Christopher Donnie Smith, 50, was arrested Saturday and charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment and other charges after he allegedly hit the victim with his car.
The victim, a 52-year-old man, was struck by a minivan in the 500 block of E. Fayette St. in downtown Baltimore about 3 p.m. Friday, according to Baltimore police. He is still in the hospital where he’s receiving treatment for his injuries.
Police said Friday they believed the minivan driver and the pedestrian were both in court earlier in the day. The minivan driver remained at the scene of the accident, police said. Traffic was backed up in the vicinity on Friday afternoon.
