Baltimore police have found that Freddie Gray suffered a serious head injury inside the prisoner van, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Police have turned their investigation over to prosecutors.
Police have also revealed that the van carrying Gray made an additional stop that was previously unreported — this one at N. Fremont Ave. and W. Mosher St. The stop was discovered via private security camera footage.
Commissioner Anthony Batts at a press conference announcing the closure of the force investigation team's work, said, "We have exhausted every lead." Batts said further investigation will be done as warranted.
Hundreds protesting over the 25-year-old's death due to his injuries sustained in police custody continued to demonstrate Thursday, marching from West Baltimore to City Hall demanding answers in the case.
The 10 p.m. curfew will continue this weekend despite calm in the streets and objections from the American Civil Liberties Union.
While the presence of the U.S. National Guard and other outside agencies has helped to tamp violence in the protests, shootings on the city's west side have continued to surge.
A $10,000 award has been set by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for those who set several fires throughout the city Monday night.
Police said 106 people who were arrested when protests turned into riots earlier this week have been released from police custody, up from 101 Wednesday. Ninety-eight officers have been injured this week.
Gov. Larry Hogan visited the west side of the city to try to encourage residents to keep the peace, and Ray Lewis and other Ravens went to a city high school to talk to students about the violence.
