One displaced in house fire in Lauraville

A one-alarm house fire displaced one resident in Lauraville in Northeast Baltimore Thursday, officials said.

Firefighters battled the flames in the home in the 5400 block of Elsrode Ave., where they were called just after 4 p.m., the Fire Department said.

Johanna Doble, 31, who said she has lived in the neighborhood since she was 5, was driving home from work when she saw the smoke. She panicked, thinking it was her mother's house, which is one street over.

"I was nervous," she said. "I kept calling her, but she didn't pick up."

No one was injured in the fire, said Capt. Roman Clarke, a Fire Department spokesman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
