Hotel workers would be trained on how to spot signs of human trafficking, under a bill the Baltimore City Council approved Monday.
The legislation doesn't dictate the content or amount of training hotels would need to provide workers, but requires the city's Health Department to annually approve the courses. The training is intended to help address both sex and labor trafficking.
A second, related bill would provide whistle-blower protections for hotel workers who report suspected trafficking cases.
The bills now goes to Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who is expected to sign them.
