Firefighters rescued two people from the roof of a burning home Thursday afternoon in Southwest Baltimore, officials said.
A pot of food left cooking started the house fire in Walbrook, firefighters said.
Crews arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m. to the 3300 block of W. North Ave. Flames ripped through the first and second floors forcing two people to escape to the roof.
Both were rescued by firefighters, and the fire was put under control in about 20 minutes, firefighters said.
Two families were displaced and the fire caused about $30,000 in damage.
