Two men have been arrested and charged in the November killing a 35-year-old man during a home robbery in Northwest Baltimore, police said Tuesday.
Karon Foster, 20, and Willie James Taylor, 31, face murder, armed robbery, assault, conspiracy and gun charges in the Nov. 11 killing of 35-year-old Gerard Slowe at a vacant home in the 3400 block of Mondawmin Ave. that neighbors said he had been renovating. Carpentry screws and a Deckmate brand box were found on the front porch in the Hanlon-Longwood neighborhood where Slowe was shot to death.
Slowe was at the home at about 8 p.m. with his girlfriend and another couple who were helping with the renovations when the suspects stormed in announcing a robbery. One of the men — who police identified as Foster — shot Slowe in the face, according to a police report. The suspects took a cellphone and a Coach bag from one of the women, police said.
The two suspects were identified from a lineup by witnesses, police said.
Taylor, of the 3400 block of Piedmont Ave., previously pleaded guilty to an April 2005 armed carjacking and was sentenced to 30 months in prison and five years probation the following year.
Foster, of the 2800 block of Jessup Road, and Taylor are being held at the Baltimore City Detention Center, police said. Neither had a lawyer listed in online court records. Taylor has an initial hearing scheduled for March 27; Foster's is set for April 7.
