Protesters cause damage in downtown

Some demonstrators damaged police vehicles and area business Saturday as a day of otherwise peaceful protests turned violent.

A window at the Michael Kors store at the Gallery at HarborPlace was smashed by a trash can and some downtown restaurants were damaged, including Frank and Nic's West End Grille and Dempsey's Brew Pub & Restaurant at Camden Yards.

Other damage included looting at the 7-Eleven at 301 N. Howard Street.

As of about 9 p.m., police said a dozen people had been arrested.
