Several houses caught fire in Burleith-Leighton neighborhood Wednesday.
A fire was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 3100 block of Tioga Parkway. At least three houses on the block burned in the blaze.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.
Residents and neighbors stood outside watching fire crews walk through the burned homes. Two people embraced while crying.
One homeownerās granddaughter, Nia Brown, was able to survey the damage inside her familyās home after the fire. The house had significant damage, but Brown was optimistic her grandparentsā home could be repaired.
āI was frantic at first because I didn't really know what to expect, but the damage looks manageable,ā she said. āIt's just going to take some time.ā
The family has another property in Maryland to stay at tonight, Brown said.
