A man is dead and a firefighter is injured after a two-alarm house fire in South Baltimore, fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to the 3700 block of S. Hanover St. in the Brooklyn neighborhood around 6:30 Monday night and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof and top floor of a two-story home, said fire department spokeswoman Blair Skinner.
First responders found the body of an adult male on the home’s second floor, Skinner said. He has not yet been identified and his cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
One firefighter sustained injuries that weren’t life-threatening while battling the blaze, and was taken to an area hospital, Skinner said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
