Baltimore fire crews respond to a fire in the unit block of S. Calhoun street early this morning.
A West Baltimore rowhome partially collapsed Wednesday morning after a fire consumed the building and threatened another neighboring structure.
Fire crews responded just before 7 a.m. to the unit block of S. Calhoun St. where they found heavy fire showing on the first floor. A portion of the building’s interior soon collapsed, causing the fire to immediately spread to the second and third floors and through the roof, said department spokeswoman Blair Adams.
The fire was upgraded to a second alarm fire, meaning additional resources were needed to help extinguish the blaze. Firefighters continued working throughout the morning to bring the blaze under control as it spread to an adjacent building, Adams said.
No injuries were reported. It was unclear whether the building was occupied prior to the fire, Adams said.
