Three families displaced after fire in vacant rowhouse spreads

Three families were displaced Monday night after a fire in a vacant rowhouse house spread to two adjacent homes near Pimlico Race Course, the Baltimore Fire Department said.

Firefighters responding to the fire around 9 p.m. found heavy fire and smoke coming from the second floor of a vacant rowhouse in the 3300 block of Paton Ave. , fire officials said. Fire spread from the ceiling to the homes adjacent to the rowhouse.

The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. No one was injured. Baltimore neighborhood services will assist the displaced families with shelter.
