A Baltimore firefighter was injured in a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Fallstaff Sunday morning, the city Fire Department said.
The residents of the Wilrose Courtyard Apartments in the 3700 block of Fallstaff Road evacuated safely when the fire was reported just before 9 a.m., and the firefighter was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released, department spokesman Capt. Roman Clark said. No other injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation, he said.
The blaze caused an estimated $100,000 in structural damage, and another $50,000 in damage to residents' possessions in the four apartments that were affected, Clark said. Two of the apartments had heavy fire damage; the other two had mostly smoke and water damage, he said.
Neighborhood Services and the apartment complex manager were assisting displaced residents in finding temporary housing, Clark said.
The response was escalated to two alarms due to an incorrect initial report that residents may have been trapped inside, he said. The fire took less than a half hour to bring under control, so several of the responding companies were called off before they arrived, he said.
