City firefighters are investigating a two-alarm fire in West Baltimore that left one person dead.
Firefighters were called to the 2300 block of Druid Hill Avenue at 5:35 a.m. Saturday and found the adult victim dead inside the home on the first floor, said Samuel Johnson Jr., a spokesman for the Baltimore City Fire Department. Officials have not identified the victim.
Heavy fire and smoke was visible on both the first and second floor when firefighters arrived.
Officials initially believed a second person was also inside the two-story brick rowhouse when a collapsed roof had prevented firefighters from searching the second floor. But officials said Saturday afternoon that that was not the case.
