A woman died after a house caught fire in the Frankford neighborhood in northeast Baltimore early Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called to a single family home in the 4400 block of Furley Ave., east of Belair Road, at 4:57 a.m. and found the back of the house engulfed in flames, said fire spokesman Capt. Roman Clark. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was found at the front of the home, he said.

No one else was inside. No other injuries have been reported. No other homes were damaged in the blaze.

What caused the two-story frame house to catch fire remains under investigation. Both city fire and police officials are investigating.

Clark said the medical examiner must determine whether the fire caused her death, which would make it the 13th fire fatality this year. There were 21 total last year.
