A 39-year-old man went into cardiac arrest and died after crashing his car early Sunday in the Irvington neighborhood of Southwest Baltimore, police said.

The man, identified as Ernest Jordan, was driving north on the 500 block of S. Caton Ave. about 2:30 a.m. when he lost control, police said. His 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix jumped the curb and hit a light pole.

The man was conscious and speaking with police officers, but he went into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

The crash team continues to investigate this accident.
