Baltimore community asked to comment on DOJ report

The Department of Justice's 163-page report describes pattern of unconstitutional policing by the Baltimore Police Department.

Residents are invited to offer comments on the U.S. Department of Justice's investigation of the Baltimore police Monday at a listening session.

City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young and Justice Department officials will host a meeting from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 2812 Reisterstown Road in Northwest Baltimore.

The community will have the chance to discuss the Justice Department's highly critical report of city police, released in August, that documented years of unconstitutional and discriminatory policing.

Federal and city officials are negotiating sweeping reforms of the police department under a consent decree expected by November.

The meeting will be recorded by Baltimore's public access channel and a copy of the recording will be provided to federal officials, according to Young's office.
