Baltimore man sentenced to 25 years for attempted murder

A 39-year-old West Baltimore man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Tuesday for attempted murder and using a handgun in a crime of violence, the Baltimore State's Attorney's Office announced.

On April 30, 2010, Davon Kelly shot two men — one of them his next door neighbor — as they approached a vehicle on the 1300 block of Stockton Street, according to prosecutors. One man, Phillip Henderson, was hit in the neck and left shoulder. The other man, Kelly's neighbor Darrell Bolling, was shot in the right arm. Both victims were treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released.

Kelly was identified by one of the victims, along with three other witnesses. He later confessed to the shooting and pleaded guilty in Baltimore Circuit Court. He was sentenced Tuesday by Judge M. Brooke Murdock.
