A woman died after crashing her car at the bottom of the I-295 South/Russell Street off-ramp in Baltimore Monday afternoon, police said.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, had been driving north down the ramp to merge onto Russell Street at about 3:35 p.m., when she apparently lost control and drove off the left side of the ramp, hitting the bottom of the overpass, police said.
The cause of the crash has not been identified, and the incident is under investigation.
The crash snarled rush hour traffic on Russell Street, one of the city's main arteries, as first responders and investigators remained on the scene.
