Police investigate attempted carjacking, shooting in Bolton Hill

Baltimore Police are investigating an attempted carjacking and shooting in Baltimore's Bolton Hill neighborhood early Monday that left a 39-year-old woman hospitalized with a shot in the arm.

Police spokesman Detective Kevin Brown said officers responded to a call at 1:30 a.m. Monday from a woman at the intersection of Mount Royal and Lafayette avenues and found her suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

According to Brown, the woman said she was in her car in the 200 block of McMechen St. when she was approached by a man who had gotten out of another vehicle. She said she tried to drive off but was shot and drove to Mount Royal and Lafayette avenues, where she called police. She was taken to an area hospital, where she is in serious but stable condition, police spokesman Agent Donny Moses said.

Brown said the incident appears to be a case of an attempted carjacking. He said the victim described her attacker as man in his early 20s, who had come from a black SUV. No arrests have been made and police were not clear on how many people had been in the SUV.
