Unusual fog over Baltimore has cleared

A light, low fog blanketed much of West Baltimore Thursday afternoon, with some concerned it could be smoke, but authorities have determined that it was weather-related.

Residents reported seeing the white fog in downtown Baltimore, West Baltimore, Mount Vernon and as far away as northwest Baltimore County. Ian Brennan, a Baltimore fire department spokesman, said several people had called 911 to report the white fog and that firefighters investigated.

The Baltimore Office of Emergency Management also investigated. OEM spokesman Connor Scott said the National Weather Service had reported a new front coming into the area and that the fog was weather-related.
