Police name bicyclist killed by dump truck; another bicyclist struck in separate crash

Police on Tuesday named Ralph Myron Roane, of Dundalk, as the 54-year-old bicyclist who was struck and killed by a dump truck in East Baltimore.

The truck driver fled after hitting Roane shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday at North Chester and East Chase streets, police said. Roane died at the hospital, and police continue to search for the truck driver.

About a half hour before Roane's incident, another bicyclist was struck on Monday, this time in West Baltimore, police said. A 66-year-old man was bicycling on the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Ave. when he was struck by a dark-colored, four-door sedan, police said. The man was hospitalized and police did not release his condition.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. and the driver fled. The sedan was last seen traveling south on Pennsylvania Avenue.
