CSX crews continued to work overnight and into Monday morning to remove the final train car from the scene and to clean up the diesel oil that leaked following the derailment. The fire department’s hazardous materials team was also called to the scene Sunday night.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The incident marks the second CSX train derailment in recent months. A freight train derailed in March while traveling along the elevated tracks near the North Avenue bridge, causing several freight cars to plunge onto Falls Road. No one was injured in that incident.
