Two houses in the 2700 block of N. Calvert Street were damaged in a fire that began around 3:40 a.m. Thursday, according to the Baltimore City fire department.
Residents were displaced by that fire which began in the rear of one house and spread to a second, said fire department spokesman Ian Brennan. Both houses had heavy smoke and fire damage, and a third house had some minor smoke damage, however no one was injured.
Fire department officials evacuated several houses on the block, and called a second fire alarm, because of concerns that the fire might spread to other houses, Brennan said.
The fire was under control by 4:35 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
