Police divers search car submerged in Patapsco River

An empty car went in the Patapsco River outside MedStar Harbor Hospital Friday afternoon.

The car was reported in the water shortly after 1:30 p.m. near the 3000 block of S. Hanover St. An open trunk showed above the top of the water, and there was no sign of the owner.

The car came to rest close to shore. It was near a pier off the hospital parking lot. Police did not immediately say how the car went in.

A police diver swam down, searched the car and came up. Later he was scrubbed clean in his suit of the Patapsco water.
