A 20-year-old man who was shot last night in Northeast Baltimore's Waltherson community later died from his wounds, city police said this morning.

About 10:10 p.m., Northeastern District officers and city paramedics found the injured man lying in the middle of the street in the 4000 block of Chesmont Ave. He had been shot at least once in the upper body, police said. Paramedics took the man to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he died shortly after 11 p.m.

Police identified the victim as Lougene Williams III. Williams lived in the same block where he was shot, police said.

Police also reported that a 17-year-old boy who was shot in the head Friday in East Baltimore died from his injuries. The boy was walking in the 800 block of N. Kenwood Ave. about 5:30 p.m. when a gunman emerged from a white or gray vehicle and fired at him, police said. He died at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said.

Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman, identified the youth as Andre Thorpe. Thorpe lived in the block where he was shot, Harris said.

Additional information about both slayings was not immediately available from police.
