The shooting occurred about 6:15 a.m. on a path between the Cold Spring Station apartments in the 2500 block of Edgecombe Circle North and a nearby alley, police said.
The names of the victims and other details about the incident were not released.
The slaying marked the city's seventh homicide this month -- the same total for the corresponding period last March.
Also, police were investigating a shooting Monday afternoon that left a man critically wounded in East Baltimore. About 1:30 p.m., police said, the victim was shot multiple times in the 3100 block of McElderry St., and then ran for a short distance before collapsing in the 500 block of N. Robinson St., where officers found him.
Police said the victim was shot by a man wearing a black ski mask who came out from an alley and fired at him. A motive in the attack was not known, police said.
The victim was being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
