Deaths ruled murder-suicide

Police released the identities yesterday of bodies found Thursday in a West Baltimore apartment. Police ruled the deaths a murder and suicide.

Homicide detectives do not know the motive, said Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman.

Southwestern District officers responding to a report of a disturbance at a Ten Hills Apartments unit in the 200 block of Atholgate Lane found the bodies of Latasha Harris, 30, and Jerry Bennett, 37, in a bedroom about 6 p.m., Harris said. He identified them as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Harris said an investigation and autopsy results indicate that Bennett shot Harris before taking his life. Bennett and Harris worked as private security officers, but it was not known whether they worked for the same company.
