2 teens indicted in theft of runaway's car

A year after 16-year-old Annie McCann's body was found next to a trash bin at a public housing complex in Upper Fells Point, police have arrested two teenage boys in connection with the theft of her parents' white Volvo, which McCann drove when she ran away to Baltimore from her Alexandria, Va., home Oct. 31, 2008.

The Baltimore Sun identified the boys, arrested late last month and charged as juveniles, as Baltimore 16-year-olds, one living in the 1000 block of New Hope Circle and the other in the 200 block of S. Mason Court.

One of the boys declined to comment, and the other could not be reached. A message left on his mother's cell phone was not returned. The Sun is not naming the juveniles.

Last month, McCann's parents sharply criticized Baltimore police for their "inaction" in the case. No arrests have been made in connection with their daughter's death, which police have suggested was a suicide.
