Earlier last night, police said a 19-year-old man walking with friends in the 1500 block of E. Hoffman St. in East Baltimore was hit by a bullet fired into the crowd.

Police said the wounded man ran to a house in the 1200 block of N. Caroline St., where he told residents he had been shot. They called an ambulance and he was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Police said the man's wounds were not life-threatening; they said the bullet struck his right ankle and broke it, and fragments hit his left knee.
