Four people were shot yesterday - two fatally - in a pair of double shootings in East Baltimore, city police said. The first incident happened about 5 a.m. at the Forrest Street Apartments in the 1100 block of Orleans St., near Old Town Mall. Police found one deceased man lying in a parking lot several yards from an apartment building. A second man was found fatally shot in a stairwell inside one of the apartment buildings, police said. Detectives did not release the names of the victims yesterday. The homicides were the second and third slayings of 2009, police said. The second double shooting happened about 1 p.m. near East Biddle Street and North Luzerne Avenue. Both men were being treated at area hospitals for injuries that were not life-threatening, said Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman. He did not have additional details about the shooting. The shooting at Luzerne Avenue yesterday was the second incident of gun violence on that street since early Jan. 1. At 12:55 a.m. Thursday, a man was shot in the 700 block of N. Luzerne Ave., a half-mile south of yesterday's shooting. He was taken to a hospital and was on life support but was pronounced dead yesterday. His name was not released.
