A 23-year-old man was shot and killed early yesterday in West Baltimore, city police said. No arrest had been made, and police knew of no motive.
The victim, identified as Jeffrey Alston of the 2100 block of Cedar Circle Drive in Catonsville, was found about 12:30 a.m. lying in the 1700 block of W. Fayette St., in the city's Franklin Square neighborhood, police said.
Police responding to a report of a man shot found Alston bleeding from at least one gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died about 40 minutes later, said Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman.
No other details were released. As of yesterday, the city had recorded 127 homicides, compared with 190 for the same period of time last year, Harris said.
