Two Baltimore residents were killed in the southern part of the city during the weekend in unrelated incidents, police said yesterday.
At about 6 p.m. Saturday, 18-year-old Valerie Barnes was shot multiple times in a house in the 800 block of Pontiac Ave. in Brooklyn, said Officer Troy Harris, a Police Department spokesman. Barnes was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead about midnight. Barnes' last known address was in the 5300 block of Carriage Circle. Police had no suspects, Harris said.
At 12:20 a.m. yesterday, officers from the department's Southern District were called to the 1700 block of Hollins St., where they found a 42-year-old man who had been shot in his vehicle. The victim, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Shock Trauma, was identified as Jeffrey Gause. Police said his assailants fled on foot.
An earlier version of this article gave the incorrect hundred block for the last known address of Jeffrey Gause. The Sun regrets the error.
