Maryland farm thanks police, fire fighters with 'Our Heroes' corn maze

A farm in Frederick County is giving thanks to first responders with an homage to "Our Heroes" in a seasonal corn maze.

Lawyer's Farm in Thurmont — which last year converted its corn maze in tribute to the state and Gov. Larry Hogan's battle against cancer, using #HoganStrong in its design — has this year given thanks to firefighters, police officers and other emergency medical workers.

The farm is located at 13001 Creagerstown Road in Thurmont. The maze — which is discounted for first-responders carrying an ID — is one of a number of features the farm will offer to visitors beginning Sept. 24.

The farm posted on Facebook: "Our opening day is just a week away! Don't forget that on opening day, September 24th, all law enforcement and their families will be given free admission to our farm. Thank you for all you do to protect and serve our country!"

Thanks in part to the Hogan maze, the farm raised nearly $13,000 for the American Cancer Society in a fundraiser last year, according to its website.

It's not the only Maryland farm using aerial images to draw attention to its maze.

On Sunday, Summers Farm in Frederick unveiled it's corn maze, tweeting an image of the field trimmed to recognized the Orioles' quest for a third playoff berth in five seasons. With the O's logo and a baseball bat, it also declares, "Let's Go O's."

The same farm gained some fame last year when Taylor Swift posted a photo of the farm's latest corn maze design, titled "Taylor Swift – Dare to Be Different." In 2014, Summers Farm used a Star-Spangled Banner theme for the field.
