Reports of where you will find rain and sleet today across Maryland are varied. In the Baltimore area, it looks like just rain. Today's temperatures will nudge to a high of 38. There is a 60 percent chance of some kind of precipitation -- take your pick -- with winds out of the northeast at 4 to 8 mph.

An ambulance responding to an emergency call struck a car and a tractor trailer involved in a separate crash Monday night, Howard County police said.

Four county executives were sworn in Monday. Democrat Kevin Kamenetz returned for a second term in Baltimore County, while three new Republican executives also took office: Steve Schuh in Anne Arundel County, Barry Glassman in Harford County and Allan H. Kittleman in Howard County.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake vetoed bills Monday evening that would have barred most merchants from distributing plastic bags and required Baltimore police to wear body cameras.

Parents and community leaders gathered outside of Abbottston Elementary School Monday to protest its planned closing. The school board is expected to vote on the proposed closures Dec. 17.
