The Baltimore City Council overwhelmingly voted last night to require all of the city's nearly 3,000 police officers to wear body cameras -- despite arguments from the mayor's office that the council's bill is illegal.

The attorney for Sash Alexander Nemphos, the 16-year-old student who was accused of planning to attack his Towson school, says he will try to get the teen's case transferred to the juvenile system. 

Adam Riess, a Johns Hopkins University astrophysicist who shared the 2011 Nobel Prize in physics, was presented the 2015 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics at a star-studded ceremony held in California's Silicon Valley.

The remains of Hugh F. Moore, an Elkton native who was shot down in Papua New Guinea in 1944, were identified by DNA testing 70 years after his death. He will be buried with full military honors in his hometown. 

Baltimore's City Council moved Monday evening to ban plastic bags handed out by grocery stores and big-box retailers after dumping a proposal to charge a 5-cent fee for the bags to discourage their use.

Robert McDonald, the new head of the Department of Veterans Affairs, has broadly outlined his fixes for the troubled agency.

The Obama administration has substantially cut estimates of the number of people who will sign up for insurance coverage in 2015 through the federal health law, projecting that millions fewer consumers will use the marketplaces created by the Affordable Care Act.
