Man rescued after being trapped in Clear Spring cave

Emergency crews rescued a man who spent hours trapped deep inside a cave in Washington County.

The man got stuck between some rocks about 200 feet down into the cave in Clear Spring about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officials said. Rescue crews from Washington, Frederick and Montgomery counties worked to free the man, bringing him out of the cave about 10:15 p.m.

The man was not believed to have been badly injured and was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.

The man had been caving with others at the time of the incident, according to Mike Reid, chief of Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company.
