South River wins a pair at Arundel Tournament

Gary Gubbings and the South River baseball team went 2-0 at the Arundel Tournament.

Kavi Caster went 3 for 3 with two runs batted in and Bryce Lerner added two hits and two RBIs to lead South River to a 7-3 win over Northern in the Arundel Holiday Mixer. Brad Marceron chipped in three hits and an RBI and Keaton Goetzger held Northern to a run on six hits in six innings.

SOUTH RIVER 9, MARRIOTTS RIDGE 4: Nick Moskios and Bryce Lerner each knocked in a pair of runs and Patrick Little limited Marriotts Ridge to an earned run in six innings with six strikeouts, as South River went 2-0 at the Arundel Holiday Mixer.

ARUNDEL 7, NORTHERN 2: Michael Prosperi allowed an unearned run with four strikeouts in six innings of work while Patrick Mason went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the Wildcats at the Arundel Holiday Mixer. Mason doubled twice and Andrew Santarpia doubled and drove in a run in the victory.

MARRIOTTS RIDGE 1, ARUNDEL 0: Will Schubert sruck out six and limited Marriotts Ridge to four hits in a complete-game effort for the Wildcats at the Arundel Holiday Mixer. Patrick Mason doubled and had two hits, while Keegan O'Donnell also had two hits.

ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 6, DEMATHA 2: Evan Fochtman homered and drove in three runs and Kris Burkowski added a double and a pair of RBIs for the Cavaliers in the non-league contest. Nick Vermillion struck out nine in six innings of work. Fochtman's home run was his second in as many games.

GLEN BURNIE 7, LONG REACH 5: Steven Swickard knocked in a pair of runs and Matt Conlon and Scott Burns each contributed a run batted in for the Gophers, who erupted for six runs in the fourth inning to overcome a 5-1 deficit, in the first game of the Bruce Sider Tournament.

NORTH COUNTY 6, WILDE LAKE 1: Sean Jones struck out 10 in a complete-game effort while PJ Alvanos and Tim Andrzejewski combined for four hits for the Knights (6-4) in the Bruce Sider Tournament. Ray Smith smacked a double and Jesse Roat knocked in a run in the victory.

LONG REACH 3, NORTH COUNTY 1: Fernando Venezuela doubled and collected two hits and Tim Andrzejewski added two hits for the Knights (6-5) in the Bruce Sider Tournament.

SEVERN 4, STS. PETER & PAUL 1: Ryan Jack collected two hits and drove in a pair of run for the Admirals. Alex Rozner walked twice, scored twice and stole three bases for Severn (8-4).

PARK 5, AACS 0: Steve O'Ferrall pitched well over seven innings, but the Bruins shut out the Eagles. Will Bickhart had a double for AACS (5-6).
