Route 50 tractor trailer crash causes two-lane closure during rush hour Wednesday

A tractor trailer crashed on eastbound Route 50 Wednesday afternoon, prompting two lanes of traffic to close on the roadway for roughly two hours.

According to Anne Arundel County Police Sgt. Timothy Gappert, a tractor trailer was traveling east of Route 50 around 3:56 p.m Wednesday. Traffic ahead of the tractor trailer slowed, and the driver swerved to the right to avoid a collision, striking a guardrail and causing the vehicle to jack-knife.

No one was injured, and the tractor trailer was the only vehicle involved in the crash. Two out of four lanes on Route 50 were closed for about two hours, according to Gappert.
