A warrant has been issued for a Lothian teen in the killing of a 17-year-old last Friday in Glenn Dale, Prince George's police said.
A warrant has been issued for Chet Markland Jarrett Jr., 17, in the murder of Jajuan Mcrae. Jarrett, whose last known address is on B Street in Lothian, has been charged as an adult with first- and second-degree murder, police said.
Jarrett was last enrolled in Southern High School in the 2014-2015 school year, Maneka Monk, a county schools spokeswoman, said.
Police responded to the 4300 block of Rockport Lane around 9:55 p.m. on Friday where they found Mcrae outside suffering from gunshot wounds. The 17-year-old Glenn Dale resident died a short time later at a local hospital, police said.
Detectives believe Mcrae's shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the teens. Police said Jarrett and Mcrae had gotten into a fight on Friday that escalated into the shooting.
Police are asking anyone with information about Jarrett's whereabouts to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), or by texting "PGPD" plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
