New Annapolis housing authority committee to give report at monthly meeting

Annapolis housing authority commissioners John Dillon, left, and Chris Flynn prepare to start the first meeting of the Community Impact Committee on Wednesday. The committee is part of a larger effort by the housing authority to tackle problems faced by residents.

The Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis Board of Commissioners meets Tuesday, when it will discuss previous committee meetings and a resolution to modify its security services.

The meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Annapolis Gardens Carolyn Butler Community Center.

Members of the housing authority's Board of Commissioners have been split into committees, one of which is the Community Impact Committee, which is focused on improving the lives of residents in public housing. It will present its first report on Tuesday, according to the housing authority agenda.

The commissioners also will discuss a resolution modifying the authority's security services. The original contract with the security group, Police Guard Services, erroneously listed June 7, 2016, as the end of the contract. It was supposed to be June 7, 2017 and the resolution fixes that error.

The resolution also increases the maximum expense of the contract by another $50,000 after an added fourth guard put the contract over $14,355.
